Internal Auditor Courses
Internal auditor training courses give you the knowledge, techniques and confidence to plan, conduct and report on internal audits of ISO management systems. Whether you are new to auditing or want to formalise skills you already have, an internal auditor course is the most direct route to becoming a competent, credible internal auditor within your organisation.
Our courses are delivered online through interactive virtual classroom sessions, or face-to-face in a classroom. They are led by experienced tutors who take you through each stage of the audit process, from preparation to reporting. Each course is certified by CQI and IRCA, the leading professional body for quality management and auditor certification, so your certificate is recognised internationally.
By the end of the course you will be able to plan and prepare audit programmes, conduct process-based audits, gather objective evidence, write non-conformance reports and present findings to management. These are the core competencies needed to support your organisation’s ISO certification and continual improvement.

Frequently Asked Questions
Internal auditor training is a structured programme that teaches you how to plan, conduct, and report on first-party audits of your organisation’s management system. The training covers audit principles based on ISO 19011 including techniques for gathering objective evidence, how to assess conformity against the relevant ISO standard, and how to write clear audit findings and reports. Completing an internal auditor course prepares you to carry out effective audits that help your organisation maintain and improve its management system.
An internal auditor course focuses on conducting audits within your own organisation to check that the management system is working as intended. A lead auditor course is more comprehensive and prepares you to plan, lead, and report on external audits such as third-party certification audits or supplier assessments on other companies. The lead auditor programme is typically longer (five days compared to two) and covers additional topics such as audit team management and advanced auditing techniques.
No prior auditing experience is required. The courses are designed to take you from foundational knowledge through to the skills needed to conduct internal audits independently. However, some familiarity with the relevant ISO standard and management system concepts is a pre-requisite. This can be achieved either by self-study, from previous experience, or by completing a formal structured foundation course.
SEQM Training offers CQI and IRCA certified internal auditor courses for ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO/IEC 27001 (information security management), ISO 14001 (environmental management), and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety management). Each course is tailored to the specific requirements of the relevant standard while following common audit methodology based on ISO 19011.
Each course takes two days to complete. The Internal Auditor course is delivered online as a two-day tutor-led live workshop. This format allows you to fully understand auditor concepts and principles and practise audit techniques through exercises and group activities.
Upon successfully completing the course and passing the assessment, you will receive a CQI and IRCA Certificate of Achievement. This is an internationally recognised professional qualification that confirms your competence to conduct internal audits of management systems against the relevant ISO standards.
